Delete Taxonomy in Sitecore Content Hub
In this blog post, I will describe to you how to delete the Taxonomy from Sitecore Content Hub:
Step 1: Go to the manage icon and navigate to the Taxonomy page using the Taxonomy option:
Step 2: For instance, I want to delete the Department Taxonomy, but you see Delete button is disabled.
But when you hover over the delete button, you will get a message that says, “You cannot delete a definition that has been published to the delivery platform. It should be unpublished first.”
Step 3: It means we need to disable this taxonomy from the Delivery platform. Go to the Manage icon and navigate to the Delivery Platform Page using the Delivery Platform option.
Step 4: Locate the taxonomy using the search box in the left panel, then select the Delivery Platform icon. Proceed to disable the Delivery Platform from the relevant settings, ensuring you save and publish your changes.
Step 5: Return to the Taxonomy page and click the now enabled delete option.
Step 6: After clicking on the delete option, if you get an error message, for example, I am getting an error “cannot be deleted as there are 2 existing entities of this definition”. There is a chance that either taxonomy is added to the entities or the security user group.
For the first option: Go to the Taxonomy and delete all children after that, navigate to the relevant Schema/Entities page, locate the desired taxonomy by name, and use the left panel to filter all groups containing this taxonomy. Proceed to remove the taxonomy from each applicable group as needed.
Another approach is to access the User Group page, locate the user group policy, and delete the rule where this taxonomy has been included. In this instance, it was assigned as a rule within a User Group policy.
Step 7: Navigate to the Taxonomy page, search for the relevant taxonomy, and proceed with the deletion process.
Happy Sitecoreing 😊
